Welcome to our July newsletter! Now that summer is in full swing, we make way for the joy of July – days filled with sunshine and strawberries, picnics, and parasols – and a general feeling of wellbeing. This month we thought we’d share some of our top picks for your alfresco dining delights. And whether you’re going or not, Wimbledon – which starts on 3rd July – has become the epitome of British summertime – and we have the perfect items for serving up seasonal strawberries and cream and Pimm’s. Game, set, down the hatch!
Make the most of the warm weather this summer with a picnic on our gorgeous vintage Welsh blankets, which are not only useful for chillier days but are ideal for sitting (or sunbathing) on. We have various colours and sizes available on our website, including this large and vibrant blanket in a blue and orange Caernarfon Pattern, as pictured in our cover photo and below.
Alternatively, if you’re in need of a more comfortable perch for a picnic, see above this stylish set-of-four folding directors chairs made by Haxyes of Hayes, Middlesex, circa 1950’s. The frames are made of stained beech and the green fabric is original. These fabulous chairs are ideal for outdoor dining or for watching cricket, if that’s more your style!
Take along with you this colourful mid-century set-of-six lemonade glasses, made in Czechoslovakia, which are also ideal for G&T’s or Pimm’s if you’re looking for something a little stronger.
Summer is a great opportunity to show off your cooking skills and there is no better summertime pudding than a homemade Pavlova, Eton Mess, or anything loaded with strawberries and cream. These British go-to summer puddings are especially delicious with a light dusting of icing sugar atop to add a delicious sweetness. This lovely Art Deco heavy-cut crystal sugar sifter, with possibly a silver top (there are no hallmarks visible), is a great addition to the summer pudding game, or even for afternoon tea when sprinkled over a cake. The pretty cut-out stars act as the holes for the sugar to flow, making this attractive sugar sifter one-of-a-kind.
We hope you have a great month ahead! We are taking a break in August, but we’ll be back in September with another newsletter which will include upcoming dates for fairs we’ll be attending in the run-up to Christmas, so stay tuned.
Don’t forget to follow our social media and if you missed our June newsletter, you can find it on our website.
